Dress Up Doll Clones

Ok so it's time for a grumpy post and here's whats causing it:

Barbie and Bratz dolls. In all the Barbie videos every character has the same barbie body and face shape. The whole video line should be called the "Barbie Clone Zone " It makes no sense. You can add variety to the female form and still have them all meet the "10" standard our crazy society thinks is ideal . Look at any professional cheerleader squad - there's a variety of women's shapes and faces. Mattel thinks the only difference between women is their clothes and hairstyles! I loved Midge, remember her, Barbies BFF( apparently not forever she is no longer made)- she had freckles and a rounder face, a normal person "look".

I can't comment on the Bratz doll stories or videos because their facial design is so extreme with make-up they look like ugly caricatures of prostitutes. So abnormal looking I can't get past my first impression to learn anything more about them. I did see an ad of a movie coming out about them - all I can say is YUK!

Is there a line of commercial dolls with variations in face and body shapes? Maybe not but these two just drive me crazy because of the "perfect body" image that makes girls think they are lacking in their appearance. I urge Moms to avoid these dolls and find something better for their dds to enjoy. How about dolls of real people and videos of real women? Think of any?

Men Ugh !!! & #%&@*???

Men just DO NOT GET IT !!! It is so important to me to reach as many Moms of tweens as possible with my blog, and share resources with them to help their daughters be allowed to just "BE THEMSELVES". To focus on their self development as bright young women and not obsess on their physical appearance and the pressures of the mass media marketing frenzy. As I was talking to my DH (and today I hesitate with that "D") he was nodding and I thought 'listening" to my rant about the 77,000 ads that have bombarded all the little unsuspecting 12 year old girls, and the mental health issues of our teen girls. Finally I paused to breathe some, and he had absolutely no comment, nada, nothing, zilch. ....................I just stared at him for about 20 seconds............... I said "Don't you find this so annoying?" ( We have a daughter!) Him,"Huh?"...................................................His brain was not even in the room with me. I was pissed!!

"If Kyle Busch had a boil on his ass and couldn't drive in the race this Sunday, you would talk about that for a solid 45 min. Wouldn't You ???!!!! But my life's interest and passion - No"

He said "Yep" That's all, just "Yep" Then we both laughed. Him because he thought my comment was funny. I laughed because............ Men are so dense about so many important things and why do we keep them around ??? It 's a good thing men have a few good uses. LOL

I want a CUTE Blog Header

Well I have been learning how to customize my header to make it nicer than the standard boring blogger rectangle I still have. I never thought of myself as a slow learner but boy is this taking a long time! Mainly because I try different methods and then I'm not happy with them so I start over.(like 5 times so far)
I had one that was a slideshow with music, I thought would just revolve but after all my setup work it was an ugly you tube type of box.
Don't go for the free stuff is what I learned ..........nice but when you post it it's covered with peoples ads!!!!!!!
I got some excellent help from Vin in the help groups and I added a header layout box. Now I want to put something really catchy in it. So cheap me finally bought a software program and now I'm building the header and it really is fun but s.....l.......o....w......going and you know me ................I just want to take my glue gun and make it right now, anyway.........................off to finish it now ...............I hope!

Treats From Hell

Well here's my first grouchy post. I hate party goody bags!! They are such a waste of money and such cheap junk!!! After a few years of useless goody bag shenanigans ................ Candy ( which we all are in short supply of), plastic whistles (that don't work ), pencils ( thank goodness I was running out of them), small rubber bouncy balls ( add them into the basket with the 10 other lonely bouncy balls), sticky slimy spider wall walker (I had an enjoyable night cleaning up dog vomit after my cocker spaniel ate one of these), Chinese paper finger traps (my plumber appreciated this sink plugger), mini playing cards ( my vacuum loves these) and stickers stickers and even more stickers. Do you know how fast a toddler can peel off a sticker and eat it ......................nanoseconds.
So then Idecided to sneak the often abandoned goody bag into the garbage before my kids could even miss them ...........but I would feel guilty because some Mom lovingly bought and prepared these " treats from hell" and I was throwing her heart felt efforts into the trash!

So I began skipping the loot bags at my kids parties hoping to start a world wide trend. Instead I made a keepsake craft to give to each child or when they were older had them make something worth keeping. ( Not paper plate and pasta crafts......that will be my next grumpy post) It was great fun making things, getting my kids involved in planning and helping and I still receive compliments today from friends who remember certain items they kept and used.

The kids would say "I have to go now ...where's my goody bag ?" and I would say " We made a tie dye shirt( or whatever the item was that year) instead" and they were quite content. Kids don't remember goody bags but they remember designing and painting and building stuff and that is a great memory to have. I'm still waiting for the "world wide trend to kick in " ..........but I know lots of other moms put their creative spins on parties and I would love to hear from you
