Excellent Dress Up Dolls For Tweens

Karito Kids

I remember hearing about these dolls awhile back but they are worth a special blog note. Dolls with normal body proportions, various races and a bit of the profit given to charity. Santa once brought my daughter a black baby doll and she loved it and enjoyed it just like her other ones. At the time we were in a small town in CT. The relatives gave a few weird looks when they were over for Christmas Dinner. I did not care. I grew up in FL. where a mix of color was the norm in my school and I wanted my kid to see variations in color and culture of people. Thankfully, we ended up back in FL. and she went to school and made friends with kids from a variety of cultures. Anyway that's what's great about these dolls (and I am a BIG DOLL LOVER) Of course the website has an interactive component as well. They are priced like the American Girl dolls but it has always bugged me how they all look the same like clones. Ewwwww

were these dolls the ones that won a top toy award. i think i saw these on Kelly & Regis last year. Have you seen one in person? They all look alike or did you mean AG all look alike? You mentioned they are priced like AG - curious, do they come with a book too?

yes they have won a ton of awards. I saw them on their website, and yes they come with books. I meant the AG dolls all look alike - I'll make it clear on my post thanks. Go to their site by clicking on their name at the top of my post and you can read all about them. They just added an aussie girl. I personally think these dolls are expensive @ $100 but we crafters who make lots of stuff tend to be cheapskates.LOL

Ahh...great! Thanks for the insight. I know what you mean about dolls all looking the same. I try to teach my daughter about diversity and it is tough when all the dolls today are so 'vanilla'. I just did a google search on large dolls and there are not many choices and all tend to be pretty pricey. I agree they are beautiful and good to know they WERE the ones I saw. Pretty cool about helping other kids at the same time too - tough to teach. Thanks for sharing.
